How this comparison works

Only exact matching reference months are paired. No interpolation or filling of missing values. A positive shift pairs an earlier X month with the displayed Y month. Point size uses the third measure’s published value in the Y month.

Annual change is a percentage for level series and a percentage-point difference for rate series. It is calculated before pairing. A year-earlier zero denominator is omitted. Through time rescales each axis to its own 0–100 range within the selected window; this is neither growth nor a common unit.

Pearson’s r is calculated on the visible paired X and Y values. It is withheld below 12 pairs or if either series is constant. It is descriptive, with no significance test or causal claim. Serial dependence between months and overlapping 12-month windows mean the pairs are not independent observations. Employment and participation rates share a population denominator. Rounded source tables limit precision. Source adjustments and definitions may differ.
