Why Countability exists
Important questions cross institutions, definitions and reporting periods. Countability brings that evidence together so readers can judge the answer, its limits and what could change it.
How we think
Countability preserves dated versions of evidence, projections, corrections, and outcomes. That history shows what changed, when it changed, and which evidence moved the assessment.
The approach
Published facts come from cited sources or disclosed arithmetic. Human judgment selects questions and assesses the evidence. Reproducible calculations and preserved source versions make that work inspectable.
Our principles
- Reality is larger than any one perspective. Serious analysis begins with what a single vantage point cannot see, and reads across institutions rather than within one.
- Judgment under uncertainty is the work. Conclusions are held at the confidence the evidence has earned, and revised as the evidence moves.
- Memory and correction make intelligence better. The record improves because it is corrected in the open and remembers what it once expected.
- Evidence outlives conclusions. When a conclusion changes, the evidence that supported it stays visible.
Where it applies
Canada is the focus of Countability's public work. A scoped engagement can apply the same methods to an organization's evidence, with its confidentiality and publication terms agreed separately.
