A two-segment mean-shift scan locates a structural level shift in 9 independent labour indicators inside a 6-month window (Jan 2024 to Jul 2024): Employment rate, age 15+ (SA); Employment rate, age 15-24 (SA); Job vacancy rate; Part-time share of employment (SA); Participation rate, age 15+ (SA); Public-sector share of employment (SA); Unemployment rate (SA); Unemployment rate, age 15-24 (SA); Unemployment rate, age 25-54 (SA). Of these, 4 shifted down and 5 shifted up. The detector locates the shifts and counts them; it does not attribute a cause, and a coordinated turn is not evidence that one series moved another. 'Independent' here means only that a member is not a direct arithmetic transform of another member in this cluster -- it is not a statistical independence test, and members may still share source surveys, definitions, or economic mechanisms.

Method

Count of structural breaks sharing a domain and granularity whose break dates fall inside one 6-month sliding window; members that are arithmetic transforms of another member are excluded from the independent count. Gate: >= 3 members and >= 3 independent members.
